Early September is a glorious time to be at Feathered Pipe Ranch. It is a time of energetic transformation, a perfect backdrop for this explorative, empowering retreat led by yoga therapists Lanita Varshell and Diane Ambrosini from A Gentle Way Yoga in San Diego. Join these seasoned instructors for a 7-day/6-night workshop of body-positive and multi-level therapeutically informed yoga sessions, each thoughtfully created and accessible for truly every body.

Transformative Yoga Therapy Retreat - Plus-size YogaOpen yourself up to receiving a new way of playing with and practicing Restorative, Yin, Classical, and focused Therapeutic yoga, breathwork, and meditation. Together we will create a friendly, welcoming setting where laughter and joy are encouraged, as are times of quiet healing and personal renewal.

Since 1996, the philosophy at A Gentle Way (AGW) has been that of a welcoming, safe haven for ALL students, especially those who may feel intimidated, too large, old, inflexible, scared, unhealthy, or embarrassed to attend most other classical yoga classes. Our classes attract students of all levels and abilities and are a healing space for everyone, regardless of experience or fitness level. As retreat leaders, we love offering spaces that bring together beginners, experienced students, and yoga professionals – proving that unity does exist despite our different backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and belief systems.

Our sessions will explore relevant yoga history and philosophy and a variety of physical asanas and breathing techniques. As is our style, all physical practices are customized for individual attendees, and philosophy is modernized for our everyday world without losing integrity or authenticity. There will be numerous opportunities to explore the Ranch grounds, with scenic strolls or more active hikes for those interested, as well as optional bodywork add-ons.

Transformative Yoga Therapy Retreat - Body Positive YogaThroughout the week, we will offer 2-3 workshop sessions each day, as well as a limited number of one-on-one yoga therapy sessions. (One-on-one sessions are an additional cost. More details to follow). This is a no-judgment setting, and all offerings are optional. We trust that you will do what is best for you! You may choose to sit and reflect beside the pond or flower garden, taking in the last rays of Summer while sessions go on in the lodge, or simply rest in Savasana as the Ranch shifts into the crisp hues of Autumn.

Both Lanita and Diane are C-IAYT Yoga Therapists and hold E-RYT® 500 and YACEP credentials with Yoga Alliance. They teach weekly live Zoom classes, private sessions, and teacher training.

*25 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Program credit hours are available for this retreat.

Transformative Yoga Therapy Retreat - Accessible Yoga“I cannot express enough how grateful I am to Lanita for choosing to teach yoga as her life’s journey. She is an exceptional yoga teacher, guide, and mentor for so many.”

“I am celebrating my 60th birthday! I met you in Feathered Pipe 10 years ago this month. One of the best experiences of my life! I had studied Iyengar Yoga for years but had quit teaching thinking I was too fat. That Retreat changed my life. Thank you for giving me the confidence to teach and let my light shine”

“What can I say about our Retreat at Feathered Pipe with Diane and Lanita? My cup is full again, and my heart is open, and my body is so happy! I laughed, cried, danced, sang, got the best massages, ate the most delicious food, and met the most amazing people. This is my retreat home. These teachers are warm and wonderful.”

“When I broke my back, my doctor said it would never heal. Because my first teacher trained with A Gentle Way, and then I followed and received my A Gentle Way certificate, I refused to believe that my back could not heal. I was guided to reach out to Diane and work with her one-on-one on Zoom. The healing of my back has been a true miracle. “

Summer Vacation Tip! Extend your time in peace and beauty while savoring Western hospitality by spending some time exploring the great West’s National Park treasures either before or after your retreat at the Ranch. Glacier National Park is a glorious and scenic 3.5-hour drive north and west of Feathered Pipe, while Yellowstone is just a 4.5 hour drive south and east of the Ranch through some of the prettiest Western territory you’ll ever see.
