This gentle week of mindful movement and sensory awareness — choreographed by a skilled team of yoga, mindful movement, visual arts, sound, and meditation guides — is about slowing down, unplugging, and relishing the unfiltered experience of your personal inner world and the life-affirming natural landscape of the Feathered Pipe. A Ranch offering like no other, the Mindful Unplug Experience includes a restful balance of scheduled activities alongside ample unstructured free time for you to settle into your natural rhythm while surrounded by one of the sweetest Big Sky mountain locales on the planet.

Move. See. Hear. Relax. Stargaze. Repeat. A full feast of sensory options is included in the cost of your program and is yours to enjoy throughout the week. Multiple sessions and activities release tension through accessible, all-levels therapeutic yoga and mindful movement, while our skilled guides re-enliven your inquiry into the experience of seeing and hearing the world anew. No prior experience with any of the modalities is necessary: this is a retreat for anyone and for everyone, so please come exactly as you are and move, see, hear, and breathe your way back to full sensory awareness.

Astronomical bonus: this third running of Feathered Pipe’s homegrown Mindful Unplug Ranch program coincides with the 12 August peak of the Perseid meteor shower, when the thin crescent moon setting in early evening paints a dark sky backdrop against which we can view a prolific show of up to 60 meteors every hour.

The Mindful Unplug team will be available throughout the week for spontaneous small-group sessions arising from interests and desires emerging from the group. Quiet strolls through the environs of the Ranch, dharma talks, and shared inquiry into mindful navigation of our digitally-saturated, over-scheduled lives are just a handful of the impromptu activities that sprung up during past Mindful Unplug retreats. The Mindful Unplug brings people of all ages and many eclectic backgrounds together, so it’s always an enchanting surprise to see how our experiences and discussions unfold at each year’s gathering.

EMBODY MINDFULNESS (with Amir Tahami & Anne Jablonski)

Deposit yourself into the luscious terrain of clear, still, and conscious presence with yoga and meditation that blends restorative, therapeutic movement with wisdom traditions to inspire you in the direction of a fully awake state. Morning class time will incorporate adaptable postures tailored into simple healing tools to take home for a lifetime. You’ll access your own inner guidance system and recover your peace of mind through easy breath work, accessible-to-all meditation techniques, and somatic tools. Mostly, you’ll remember how good it feels to thoroughly relax again and renew your appreciation of how practical and relevant this skill is to your everyday life.

SEE AGAIN (with Zane Williams)

Reconnect with the elemental act of truly seeing your world with celebrated photographer, visual wizard, and long-time Ranch friend Zane Williams. Creative visual mindfulness practices and strolls around the Ranch with Zane revitalize your ability to see the world about you and become truly present to – and renew your appreciation for –  how your visual world is shaped by light and shadow, form and gesture.

HEAR ANEW (with Todd Hammes)

Gifted sound artist and life-long student of the percussive arts Todd Hammes returns to the Feathered Pipe to share his one-of-a-kind gift to reconnect you to your innate curiosity about the world of sound through both passive and creative participatory experience. Using found instruments to create sound, Todd will guide you to tune into and receive healing vibrations. Time with Todd is a rare opportunity to explore how the creation of sound, coupled with awareness, positively affects our whole being.

About the Mindful Unplug

The Mindful Unplug is a homegrown Feathered Pipe Foundation educational initiative applying thousands of years of yogic and other conscious living wisdom into workshops and other learning experiences. The Mindful Unplug intentionally blends inspiration from both the ancient and the modern, weaving timeless truths and practices handed down by the sages with applied knowledge from the latest discoveries in neuroscience, body movement education, and sensory awareness.

*Yoga Alliance CEUs are available for this retreat.

Relaxation Guide – Anne Jablonski

A Yoga-Alliance registered teacher (RYT 500) in Virginia, Anne teaches at Sun & Moon Yoga Studio, serves as President of the Feathered Pipe Foundation (she midwifed the Mindful Unplug!) and works for busy startup companies. She knows all about what it’s like to yearn for practical ways to insert pauses into a heavily scheduled, rat-race-y life. Anne’s mission is to return you home with skills to plug back in consciously so you can step back into the world of noise and technology equipped to nourish and safeguard your own health — and apply your consciousness for good of all. Anne’s teaching draws on inspiration from her most influential teachers: Erich Schiffmann, every fine poet, her cheeky teacher within, and the Feathered Pipe Ranch itself.
