Yoga is both a state of being, and the practices associated with that state. The practices – asana, pranayama, meditation – are visible from the outside. And thus, often attract our attention. But making shapes with our body through asana, for example, is primarily interesting because it helps us to enter a state of being called yoga. Otherwise we’re just doing exercises.

This week together at the magical Feathered Pipe Ranch we will focus on cultivating the state of yoga, both on and off the mat.

Restorative Yoga - Feathered Pipe RanchIn the mornings we’ll practice slooow flow with Lizzie on the “Nature Deck”. This extraordinary covered outdoor space offers views of the “Buddha mountain” stupa, majestic tipis, and the shimmering lake below. Squirrels, magpies, and the occasional deer visit during class. All while the soundtrack of birdsong and the rustling of aspen trees uplift your practice.

Afternoons are with Judith in the yoga room for a dharma talk followed by active poses, then practicing Restorative yoga, pranayama and meditation. Choosing rest and introspection in the company of other like-minded friends is a joy. It is especially a joy in the stunning setting of the Feathered Pipe Ranch, ringed with mountains and studded with thousands of lodge pole pine trees.
