So why exactly is the Feathered Pipe called a "Foundation" and not simply a "Retreat Center"?

Since its inception, The Feathered Pipe, a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, has been focused on the elevation of human consciousness. Thus, we recognize both the privilege and responsibility to nurture sustainable and holistic communities and preserve cultural traditions that embrace and inspire such inclusive philosophies.

In addition to offering yoga, personal growth retreats, and travel programs that encourage individuals to live more mindfully and cooperatively, the Feathered Pipe Foundation has supported and undertaken numerous humanitarian efforts that are at the heart of our mission. This "Seva Yoga" is our ultimate purpose.

In the past we have contributed to the work of late Cree Elder, Pat Kennedy, in his efforts to reclaim and reinvigorate ceremonies of the Cree people that were in danger of being lost. Bringing together tribal leaders with tribal members and the general public, peace encampments were held to raise awareness of the rich ceremonial traditions that hold their community together in the midst of incredible hardship.

Today, we continue this work focusing on four primary areas:

  • Feathered Pipe Scholarship Fund: A large number of today's leaders within the Yoga, Meditation and Health & Wellness communities have come through our doors at one time or another, with many getting their start right here at the Ranch through our scholarship fund. The objective of the fund is to assist those who have the intention and heart but may not have the financial ability to afford participating in a Feathered Pipe retreat. We believe the best way to create the sustainable and cooperative communities we dream of starts with the individual. The scholarship fund goes right to the heart of our philosophy and mission.
  • Tibetan Children's Education Foundation (TCEF): “Dedicated to the preservation of Tibetan culture by supporting Tibetan schools and school children-in-exile from their homeland," TCEF provided most of the funds for building the Kyitsel-ling Tibetan Children’s Education Center in North India and supplies scholarships to needy Tibetan children for their education. TCEF also financially supports destitute Tibetan elders, young monks in the Dubdi Monastic School in Sikkim, and facilitates cultural exchange programs via sponsored trips of Tibetan monks and traditional Thangka painters to America. These programs educate the public about both the depth and beauty of their culture as well as the struggle they are currently facing in their homeland.
  • Retreat and Support for HIV+/AIDS Men, Women & Partners: For more than 25 years the Feathered Pipe Foundation has partnered with Montana organizations in offering free retreat and support for men, women & partners struggling with the disease. These retreats are empowering and unifying events that enable the participants to experience support from their peers and receive information and education from health care professionals concerning treatment issues, sexual health, mental health, nutrition, self-esteem, body image, the impact of drugs and alcohol, and more.
  • 5th United Nations World Conference on Women (5th UN WCW): India Supera, the founder and visionary of the Feathered Pipe, has never accepted the societal notions of gender separation when it comes to opportunity and forging one's own path. India took part in a conference at United Nations in the spring of 2011 in which women leaders from around the world including Dr. Michelle Blachelet, Under-Secretary of the UN, planned for a potential 5th United Nations World Conference on Women to address the current state of women and children throughout the world. Along with Jean Shinoda Bolen, well-known social activist and author of the newly released Like a Tree, India is pushing for the conference to be held in New Delhi, India in 2015. Much effort and financial resources are needed within the upcoming year to make the conference a reality. (Please contact us if you or your community would like to get involved by hosting or sponsoring an outreach program.)

Please visit the individual Seva Yoga project pages under Support the Foundation tab for more information about these programs and to learn how you can get involved. Or, feel free to donate to our general Seva Yoga fund here and assist us in advancing and expanding the humanitarian service we hold dear.

Thanks and Namaste,
