One of the most powerful teachings of the ancients is about letting go. All religions and spiritual traditions tell us to let go of our suffering, of the tyranny of our thoughts, of our constant judgments.

But what does it mean to let go? How is it different from giving in? How do we learn to let go of our attachments, our fears, of our constant holding on to the hope of making things be the way we want them to be all the time? Can we learn to let go into our true power, our innate strength, and our courage? These are some of the questions we will explore.

Judith Hanson Lasater - The Heart of Yoga PracticeIn this workshop we will use Active Asana and the Quiet Practices of Restorative yoga, pranayama, and meditation to explore what it means to cultivate the wisdom of letting go on the mat and in our lives, minute by minute.

Each morning, after you’ve greeted the day’s soft light, savored the early birdsong soundtrack, and finished your delicious breakfast, we’ll enjoy an active yoga practice to challenge your body with compassion and draw your mind inward through curiosity and focus on the postures. Each afternoon, we’ll settle deeply into restorative poses to unwind and decompress. You won’t want to miss these luxurious afternoons of settling into deep relaxation. Each afternoon session will also include pranayama and a dedicated period for meditation.

Afternoons between lunch and class are wide open for you to do whatever you choose: hike, read, nap, swim, socialize, or simply BE without doing. Judith strongly encourages the latter! Judith requests that you leave your work at home and fully drop into the experience of this week. Evenings will include one question and answer about teaching and practicing which will be open to all, as well as a presentation by JoAnn Lyons, Judith’s long-time assistant, on her work with students facing great challenges from disabilities.

It wouldn’t be Judith’s workshop without Friday night’s signature talent show and follies – so remember to bring an instrument, a poem to read, a joke, or a dance to share. We 100 percent guarantee that all acts will be enthusiastically applauded.

AND, for those interested in exploring a little more deeply the Big Sky vibe, a gentle, guided rafting trip down the Missouri River will be offered on Wednesday afternoon-evening. An email will be sent out to all registrants for Judith’s program with details and additional nominal cost. So don’t forget you swimsuit and license to laugh!

*27 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Program credit hours are available for this retreat.
