With great delight we are returning for the 12th year to Isla Mujeres and the lovely NaBalam Beach Hotel with Mary Dunn and Dean Lerner, two of our most respected senior Iyengar teachers - and best of all, our dear friends. Known for their devoted study of the art and science of yoga, their deep connection with their students and their infectious humor, the week promises to be a rich and fulfilling yoga experience as well as lots of fun. Mary, a long-time student of BKS Iyengar and senior teacher, is known for her ability to bring to life the philosophy of yoga and weave it seamlessly into a fresh meaningful presentation of the postures. Dean has a gentle yet dynamic manner combined with the perspective of a tireless search into the heart of yoga. Mary and Dean are experts in training teachers as well as jump-starting beginners, they'll make sure you work at your best level.
Getting there:
Fly into the Cancun Airport, taxi or hotel van will take you to the port of Puerto Juarez where you will catch a high-speed ferry to the island of Isla Mujeres. All transfer details and costs will be sent to you upon registration. Transportation between the airport and the NaBalam costs between $22 and $70 one way (depending on whether you chose van or taxi).
Accommodations:
All rooms have air conditioning, private bathrooms, sitting areas and one king or two double beds.
Cost:
Cost is per person, based on double occupancy. Price includes lodging, two full meals at the NaBalam daily, all instruction with the teachers, and Feathered Pipe staff in attendance.
Dean Lerner, a longtime student of B.K.S. Iyengar, is past-President of the Iyengar Yoga Association of the United States and teaches nationally and internationally as well as in his hometown of State College, Pennsylvania.
Mary Dunn, who also teaches in the U.S. and abroad, was one of the first teachers of Iyengar yoga in the U.S., has been instrumental in founding Iyengar yoga centers in San Francisco, San Diego, and New York. She reaches out to all students, sharing her love and knowledge of this life art in a clear, dynamic and generous manner.
