Is Yoga for Everyone? Does yoga as it is taught in America today address the needs of all? Lanita Varshell believes it can and should regardless of size, shape, color, age or creed. She specifically designed A Gentle Way Yoga to be welcoming and empowering to those people who have never felt quite safe or comfortable in other yoga classes. The practice and philosophy encourages us to get our negative, fearful selves out of the way and embrace who we are today, and know, really know, that it is our birthright to be happy, healthy, abundant, loved, and loving. It is your birthright!

As well, her "Meditation in Movement" style yoga is an open invitation to "hard-core" yogis to slow down and deepen internal focus, listening more intently for guidance from your body and spirit. Modifications specific to every participants need allow everyone to safely deepen poses without injury. Breath work and adaptive props are used to alternately relax and stimulate the body to move towards inner balance giving deep stress relief. Standing and seated poses are joyful and flowing – not strict or sweaty. Working from the inside out, this yoga creates a calm, balanced space for all.

Regardless of your opinion of your body, you'll begin to remember who you really are - a beautiful spiritual being having a human experience.  What a gift it is to simply experience being human without judgement.  We begin to remember that what we are experiencing outside of yoga class is what yogis call “the illusion of life, the play of life.”  With this realization we then become the observer of this play of life, without being sucked into it’s drama, and we remember that the universe always, always, guides and takes care of us, when we are one with the flow of life.

Describing her own journey with yoga as a plus-size woman, Lanita reminds students that “It's never about how much you weigh, it's about how happy and healthy you stay, in body, mind, and spirit. What is weighing down your spirit?”

Retreat Bonus...Thinking of teaching therapeutic yoga? Lanita will offer daily classes for teachers in which you will be skillfully instructed how to sensitively recognize and accommodate the needs of your students. Classes count for 50 credits toward certification within Lanita’s Aalamba (supported) Yoga Teacher Training – Yoga for Every Body.

Lanita Varshell is the owner of A Gentle Way Yoga & Joyful Movement Center in San Diego (La Mesa) California, and is the founder of “Meditation in Movement Style"® Gentle Yoga. She has been interviewed in several magazines about her plus-size journey through yoga, including Yoga Journal, and Bella online. She has produced a Gentle Yoga class CD, is working on her first books and DVD’s, and leads yearly Gentle Yoga Retreats in California and Montana. REGISTRATION DETAILS:

Registration Process: Payment of $300 deposit is required to initiate your registration. This deposit will be NON-REFUNDABLE once registration is complete.

Upon initial registration the Feathered Pipe administrative staff will contact your to confirm receiving your registration and will assist with choosing your accommodation and transportation requirements.

Full payment is due at the time of completing your registration by reserving your accommodation. Payment options may be arranged if necessary. All final payments are due 8 weeks before the arrival date of your retreat.

Program Tuition: Includes cost all instruction and program activities. Upon registration Feathered Pipe office staff will contact you to reserve your preferred accommodation choice.

Accommodation & Amenities: Includes cost of lodging, meals and general use of the bathhouse, grounds and Feathered Pipe Ranch facilities. Please visit Accommodations & Amenities page to see the many options and costing for lodging.

Additional Services: Horseback Riding, Massage/Bodywork, Laundry, Airport Shuttle Service are available at an additional cost. We accept checks, money orders, and most major credit cards.

Cancellation Policy: For cancellations before 8 weeks out, we will refund all of your payments except the $300 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT. For cancellations from 8 to 2 weeks out THERE IS NO REFUND; however we will credit any payments over the deposit to another workshop in 2012. For cancellation within 2 weeks of the start of your workshop there is NO REFUND AND NO CREDIT; however workshop may be transferred to another person.

Airport Service: We recommend the Helena Regional Airport for those coming to retreats and programs at the Feathered Pipe Ranch. Airlines fly in from all parts of the country on a regular basis, with Delta serving those flying from the East Coast, Midwest, Mountain and West Coast via their Mineapolis and Salt Lake City hub, United serving passengers from all over via the Denver hub, and Alaskan Airlines serving West Coast flyers via their Seattle hub.

If you are coming for a Blacktail Ranch Retreat, we suggest that you arrive either at the Helena Regional Airport or Great Falls International Airport as the Blacktail is about an hours drive from either airport.

Shuttle Service: For those coming for a Feathered Pipe Ranch retreat, we meet flights at the Helena Regional Airport, offering shuttle service for $65 roundtrip. For those coming to a Blacktail Ranch Retreat, we offer roundtrip shuttle service from Helena Regional and Great Falls International Airports for an additional charge of $100.

Our driver will meet you at baggage claim wearing a Feathered Pipe t-shirt. We are now grouping some pick-ups, so you may have a 30 minute wait. Please contact the office at: kim@featheredpipe.com or call (406) 442-8196 to arrange and confirm pick-up.

Early Arrivals: If you are not able to arrive by 4 pm on the listed arrival day we encourage you to come in a day early and stay the night in Helena. We are happy to pick you up at your hotel on arrival day.

Scholarships:Partial scholarships are available for those needing financial assistance, ranging from $250-500. Recipients assist Ranch staff in free time and during programs. For Registration Form, please visit the Feathered Pipe Scholarship Fund page and download the form. And as always your generous, tax-deductible contributions to the fund are always welcomed. Discounts: Discounts must be in effect at the time of registration and may not be combined. All Discount excludes $25 Montana Tax.
