Tibetan Children’s Education Fund

TCEF Children

The Tibetan Children’s Education Foundation is a nonprofit corporation founded in 1995 dedicated to the preservation of Tibetan culture by supporting Tibetan schools and school children-in-exile from their homeland. TCEF was chartered by a group of Montanans including India Supera, the Feathered Pipe Foundation’s founder and current executive director, and Karma Tensum, a leading Tibetan educator and the executive director of TCEF.

The objectives and purposes of Tibetan Children’s Education Foundation include:

  • To fulfill the Mahayana Buddhist tradition and motivation of gaining benefit for all sentient beings.
  • To support, endorse, fund, fund-raise and otherwise assist Tibetan and other children-in-need as well as adults-in-need in securing worthwhile, quality education, anywhere in the world.
Hope and Opportunity

The focus of TCEF's efforts to date has been Kyitsel-ling Tibetan Children's Education Center, located in North India. They have provided most of the funds necessary to build Kyitsel-ling and provided scholarships for many needy Tibetan children there. Their future goal is to take us beyond Kyitsel-ling, to provide support and scholarships to Tibetans elsewhere in India, Nepal and the USA.

Child sponsorship rate is $45 a month which helps to pay boarding and lodging, school tuition, uniforms, books, medical and health care needs etc. at the Kyitsel-ling Tibetan Children’s Education Center in Clement Town and the Sukhavait Boarding School in Sikkim.

Although children’s education continues TCEF’s focus, they’ve expanded sponsorship to include destitute Tibetan elders. Family ties are strong in Tibetan communities and children often take care of their elderly parents but there are many exiled elders who have lost their families and live alone. A $30/month sponsorship assists with such expenses as medical care, eye care, clothing, etc and perhaps will enable a spiritual pilgrimage to a holy Buddhist site.

Please visit TCEF’s website to learn more and find other ways you can help including support for special projects, attending cultural tours, hosting local presentations.
