The Peace Encampments: Since 1997
This summer Pat Kennedy and the Feathered Pipe Foundation sponsored the fifth Peace Encampment Ceremony. We were graciously hosted by the Blacktail Ranch. Everyone is invited to come to this gathering, camp together, pray, dance and celebrate unity.
Pat Kennedy's vision of revitalizing certain ceremonial dances of his people is the driving force behind these gatherings. These religious ceremonial dances are central to the Cree person's connection to Spirit and they have been in danger of dying. The young people of the tribe must experience and learn these ceremonies in order to guarantee them life so that they may continue to nourish the spirit of the people. Pat Kennedy's efforts are really directed toward the young people and the children, although we all have a great time.
The power of these Encampments is now being felt throughout Indian Country. We ask for your support in making these celebrations available to the next generation.
