Visionseeker Level I: Spiritwalker Teachings on the Shaman’s Path

Dr. Hank Wesselman
August 10, 2013 - August 16, 2013
Feathered Pipe Ranch, Montana

Hank Wesselman brings the wisdom of the shaman to the Feathered Pipe Ranch offering the Spiritwalker Teachings, the first level of his three-part Visionseeker series. This experiential workshop explores the nature of health, illness and healing from the perspective of the traditional shaman. Utilizing the classical method of journeywork to connect with the inner levels of reality, awareness and experience, our spirit helpers, teachers and ancestors are invited to emerge.

During the week, we grow our connection with these inner sources as they are intimately connected with our life purpose. We learn how they can provide us with power, protection, knowledge and support, and how to find them when they can help. The week also includes an introduction day to shamanism and closes with a powerful transpersonal healing ritual. This workshop provides an accessible introduction for those less familiar with the shaman’s path and will enhance the practice of more experienced inner travelers.

This week at Feathered Pipe with Dr. Wesselman offers an uncommon opportunity to dive deep into the wisdom of a powerful healing tradition with a gifted master, surrounded by sanctified land that enriches and supports the experience. Shamanic ceremony and rituals informed by ancestral wisdom passed along from wise elders have a rich history at Feathered Pipe – from Cree elder Pat Kennedy and Huichol elder Don Jose to medicine woman Brooke Medicine Eagle. We are privileged and honored to add Dr. Wesselman’s voice to the ongoing vital conversation about the practical relevance of shamanic wisdom to contemporary life.

About Dr. Hank Wesselman

Hank Wesselman, PhD, holds advanced degrees in anthropology and zoology from the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Colorado at Boulder. A native New Yorker, he has spent much of his life living and working among traditional tribal peoples, primarily in Africa and Polynesia. He served in the US Peace Corps in the 1960s, living among people of the Yoruba Tribe in Western Nigeria for two years. It was there that he first became interested in indigenous spiritual wisdom.

Beginning in the early 1970s, he conducted research with an international group of scientists, exploring eastern Africa’s Great Rift Valley in search of answers to the mystery of human origins – fieldwork that allowed him to spend much of his life living and working with traditional peoples, rarely, if ever, visited by outsiders. In addition to his scientific papers and monographs, his books include his autobiographical trilogy: “Spiritwalker: Messages From the Future” (Bantam, 1995), “Medicinemaker: Mystic Enounters on the Shaman’s Path” (Bantam, 1998), and “Visionseeker: Shared Wisdom From the Place of Refuge,” (Hay House, 2001). These extraordinary books focus on a series of altered state experiences that document his investigations into a hidden reality that most of us have heard about, but few have experienced directly.

His most recent books are: The Bowl of Light: Ancestral Wisdom from a Hawaiian Shaman (Sounds True, 2011),  and (co-authored with Sandra Ingerman) the award-winning: “Awakening to the Spirit Worlds: The Shamanic Path of Direct Revelation” (Sounds True, 2010). Hank currently lives on the Kona Coast of Hawai’i Island with his family, where they are involved in sustainable food production on their farm in Honaunau.
