Sherri Baptiste, ERYT 500 is an inspirational yoga teacher at the forefront of training in America. Founder of Baptiste Power of Yoga, she offers classes, workshops, retreats and teacher training. Michele Hébert

Michele Hébert, E-RYT 500 is a master yoga and meditation teacher, natural nutritionist, and author of the newly released book The Tenth Door: An Adventure Through the Jungles of Enlightenment. She is a senior teacher in the Walt Baptiste Method of Raja Yoga, who personally conferred upon her the sacred title Raja Yoga Guide. Michele was also initiated into the Himalayan Yoga Tradition by Swami Veda Bharati of India and into Tibetan Buddhism by H.H. the Dalai Lama.

Michele has been a global pioneer in the health and fitness industry in the area of mind-body-spirit integration for 25 years. She has been teaching the Walt Baptiste Method of Yoga for 35 years and is a former competitive bodybuilder. She applies her unique educational background in Raja Yoga, health & fitness, and nutrition to her consciousness based teachings and has brought these teachings to the varied fields of medicine, education, yoga, as well as the corporate and spa industries, working with the leaders in each field. Accommodations:

All cabañas have private bathrooms, are without electricity but have kerosene lighting and hot running water. The price listed is per person, based on dorm/ double/triple occupancy and includes meals, all instruction and the 17% Mexico Hotel Tax. Please inquire for single availability and cost.

Travel:

Haramara Spa Treatment

Fly into Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, before 6 PM on the first listed day of the retreat. Haramara offers round-trip shuttle service for $100, or you can take a taxi/local bus from the airport. Airport transfer times will be arranged closer to the start of the retreat. Depart Puerto Vallarta on the last day listed (no classes that day). Check out time from your Haramara room is 10:00 AM, but you may store your luggage and stay later. I’m thrilled to be spending my 10^th summer at the Feathered Pipe Ranch, sharing with you in a week of deep community and connection, a whole lot of fun, laughter, and creative yoga practice - both on and off the mat. We’ll open our hearts, relax into who we are, and help give each other the courage to follow our inner guidance and be ourselves fully, without limit. The result is healing, energizing, and deeply transformative.

Our sessions together will be a unique blend of Freedom Style Yoga, an intuitive, guided-from-within practice of exploring options and choices in the poses; and Bhakti Yoga, the devotional yoga of the heart, which uses our emotions and our longing for The Divine as a pathway to the connection we yearn to find.

Feathered Pipe Main Room

Each session will have a slightly different flavor and will incorporate various elements to help us dive straight into the center of ourselves: meditation, chanting, creative asana and sequencing, storytelling and discussions, and Bhakti Moves - a dance-based practice that I’ve created. Bhakti Moves is a fusion of my deepest passions: Freedom Style Yoga, dance, meditation, rhythm, music, and my exuberance for the beauty and magic of life.

Carie Garrett

Carie Garrett is a senior teacher of Los Angeles-based yoga master Erich Schiffmann. Since 2001 she has worked extensively with Schiffmann as his apprentice and teaching assistant at workshops, retreats, and teacher trainings throughout the country. Carie teaches a fluid and creative practice based on inner listening, self-trust, and intuitive alignment. Her unique teaching style weaves together a love of innovative movement from a dance background and a strong knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology from 25 years as a group exercise instructor. Her classes are spontaneous, fun, outside the box, and reflect her passion and real-life experiences of living the yoga in the world on a daily basis. Kira Ryder

Ravi Ravindra

Ravi Ravindra was born in India and received his early education there. He went to Canada as a graduate student and later as an immigrant. Now he is a Professor Emeritus at Dalhousie University, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he served for many years as a professor in three Departments: Comparative Religion, Philosophy, and Physics. He was a Member of the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, a Fellow of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study in Shimla, and the Founding Director of the Threshold Award for Integrative Knowledge. Ravindra’s spiritual search has led him to the teachings of J. Krishnamurti, G. Gurdjieff, Yoga, Zen, and a deep immersion in the mystical teachings of the Indian and Christian classical traditions. Now, more than ever, we are coming to appreciate that Yoga is a practice of transformation, and within it’s vast array of practices is the use of sound, both audible and internal. This is known as Nada Yoga. Please join us at Feathered Pipe Ranch for this unique melding of the 8 limbs of Yoga with the power of sound and music in this very special retreat. One of Feathered Pipe’s beloved teachers Baxter Bell will be collaborating with the multi-talented musician and vocalist Mark Stanton Walsh to offer you an experience of movement and song that will support your own deepening transformation. And whether you are a music maker or a music lover, this week will have something for everyone.

Transform from Within

Baxter will lead the group in unique asana practices, some with live musical accompaniment by Mark, and many that will integrate yogic sound practices. Mark will offer truly special afternoon sessions that will facilitate opening and connection via sound frequency, voice, chant, mantra, and movement, working with the energy system of Chakras, as well as Sufi dance traditions. Special evening musical events will include a Chakra-focused concert and a good old campfire sing along.

Jennifer Cohen

Jennifer Cohen has studied the art and science of transformational coaching and facilitation since 1992 and is certified as a Master Coach by The Strozzi Institute for Leadership and Mastery. She co-founded Seven Stones Leadership Group, a company devoted to guiding individuals and organizations to face the most pressing questions of our time inside of exquisite sufficiency.

Jen has steeped herself equally in the practical as well as the esoteric. A devoted student of Vippasana meditation from the Theravada Buddhist tradition as well as a student of psychic practice, Tantric healing, and a mystery school student, Jen has cultivated her heart and spirit as the primary source of her teaching. In her passion for understanding the design of life, she has dedicated herself to understanding systems thinking and theory, has studied the neurophysiology of trauma, as well as communication theory and the architecture of masterful conversations and she has been teaching the Strozzi method of embodied leadership for well over a decade.

She is the author of the chapter “From Surviving to Thriving” in the book Being Human at Work, edited by Richard Strozzi Heckler. She has a master’s degree in Applied Psychology with an emphasis on systems theory from the Antioch New England Graduate School, and she did her undergraduate work in philosophy at Oberlin and Barnard. Marla Apt

Marla Apt is a Senior Intermediate level Iyengar Yoga teacher, based in Los Angeles. She has been involved with medical research studies at UCLA on yoga for depression, anxiety and IBS and created the first yoga therapy content to be incorporated into the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine’s curriculum. She is a writer contributor for Yoga Journal Magazine and was the 2009/2010 author of the "Basics" column of which you can find many of her articles here within our "Teachers' Cabin" blog.

Marla visited India for the first time while doing research for a degree in Buddhist Philosophy and has since returned numerous times for yoga studies including a year of study in Pune, India with B.K.S. Iyengar, his daughter, Geeta Iyengar and son, Prashant Iyengar. She continues to study annually with the Iyengars at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India.

She is on the faculty of the three-year Teacher Training Program of the Iyengar Yoga Association of Southern California. Marla served as the President of the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States and is currently a member of the national certification committee. The world is deeply in need of healing, and according to the Dalai Lama, “The world will be saved by the Western woman.” As the power of the feminine rises and the puddles of empowered women begin to coalesce, the seeds for saving the world are planted. But how can we fuel the feminine fire and heal the world if we don’t first heal ourselves?

Are you a female visionary who dreams of spreading your gifts and healing the world? Lissa Rankin, MD is an OB/GYN physician visionary, an author, a speaker, a consultant to visionaries, a professional artist, and founder of the women’s health and wellness community OwningPink.com.  Discouraged by the broken, patriarchal health care system, she left her medical practice in 2007 only to realize that you can quit your job, but you can’t quit your calling. This epiphany launched her on a journey of discovery that led her to become a leader in the field of mind/body medicine, which she blogs about at OwningPink.com and is writing about in her third book, Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof You Can Heal Yourself (Hay House, 2013). She teaches self-healing to both patients and visionaries who seek to live more vital, whole, balanced lives. She is leading a revolution to feminize how health care is received and delivered by encouraging collaboration, fostering self-healing, reconnecting health care and spirituality, empowering patients to tap into the mind’s power to heal the body, and encouraging women not to settle for being merely well, but to strive for living vital, joyful, authentic lives full of “mojo.”  When not spreading the word, she chills out, paints, does yoga, and hikes in Marin County, California with her husband and daughter.
